Jolie’s New ‘Maleficent’ Trailer Debuts

Angelina Jolie was the real star of the Grammys Awards yesterday when her highly anticipated film Maleficent screened it’s first trailer during the award ceremony. Based on the “untold story” of the Disney villainess, the upcoming Maleficent is both a prequel and re-imagining of Disney’s 1959 Sleeping Beauty and told from the perspective of the antagonist Maleficent, whom Jolie is set to portray.

The new trailer features the first listening of Lana Del Rey’s new song “Once Upon A Dream”, which was written specifically for the film when Sleeping Beauty debuted over half a century ago. Displaying Del Rey’s captivating voice and Jolie already being described as incredible in her first film role in three and a half years, Maleficent is shaping up to be a film that must be seen this year.

Also starring Elle Fanning as the unforgettable Princess Aurora, Sharlto Copley as King Stefan and Australian actor Brenton Thwaites as Prince Phillip, the film is set to include Juno Temple, Miranda Richardson and Academy Award nominated Imelda Staunton among others. With a release date set for June 2014, all eyes will be on Angie as she brings the legendary villain to life.
